High Circle – Out of Darkness

This was another £1 wonder from Aston at Boss Tuneage. I liked the band name ‘High Circle’, they were from Roma, Italy which scored points with me and also the album title ‘Out of Darkness’ sounded brooding; all in all it was enough for me to part with my pound coin. Released on Subcore in 1986, the album sounds like a band in transition, there are straight forward punk tracks, but songs like opener ‘Throbs’ and the title track are longer and fairly dark; maybe even slightly gothic. The record has that classic 80’s bad production that many hardcore bands in transition went for…but you wouldn’t have it any other way. If you want to hear what they sounded like as a straight forward punk hardcore band check out the http://paynomorethan.blogspot.com which has the bands 6 track EP from 1985. Here’s the link for ‘Out of Darkness’, which is a 320kbps vinyl rip.
